Unseasonable.

It has been drizzling sullenly since Sunday, without a break longer than about four hours. Grey, featureless light; a flat sky of low clouds. Chill blankets the air, heavy and wet. Wisps of fog part to veil and unveil the hillsides. The poplars planted by the University Oval are just leafing out -- but the new leaves are fiery orange, like a sugar maple's October plumage. What sort of spring is it that mimics the fall?
